Safety adjustments during Covid-19

We are working on re-opening for clients on the 15th of May 2021.  The safety of our guests and staff is of the utmost importance. We follow the procedures of the Clean and Safe Protocol of the Turism Office of Portugal. If rules and measurements (national and international) concerning the Covid- pandemic change, we will adjust our internal measurements if necessary. If we all work together, we will be able to go back to enjoying the beautiful Algarve.

Read here about the new procedures, if you have any questions or doubts, please do not hesitate to contact us either by email or by phone.

Our Staff

All our employees are trained and informed about the rules relating to the Coronavirus outbreak and we take the basic precautions to prevent and control infection:

Handdisinfection: we wash our hands frequently with soap for 20 seconds and use the hand disinfectant containing 70% of alcohol regularly.

Breath etiquette: We use facemasks if we are in contact with clients or when cleaning the rooms or common area’s. We cough and sneeze into our bent forearm and use paper tissues which are binned immediately.

Social Behaviour: We avoid (where possible) close contact, handshakes, kisses, shared meeting, shared utensils.  We stay at home if we have any of the Corona symtpoms (cough, sore throat, fever, etc). We check our temperature daily when starting to work.

Our Guests

All our guests are informed before arrival, via email, about the measures we have taken, according to the adjustments of the Covid-19 measurements of the Portugese authorities.

We will ask you to keep the basic precautions when arriving at Casa do Alto and cancel your stay with us if you have any symptoms correlating to the Corona-virus or have been in contact with someone infected by the Corona-virus within 7 days before your arrival. We will ask you to follow our procedures in reducing the risk of contaminating other persons.

Reception and Common Areas

We consider ourselves lucky, as most of the commonly used areas are outside and we do not have many doors/handles/buttons that are often used. The areas that are touched regularly, will be disinfected several times a day by our staff. We will also be providing disinfectant spray at these locations for guests to disinfect the surfaces themselves. There will also be several hand sanitising stations throughout the property for our guests.

We have created extra distance between the tables on the terraces. At the pool, we have created sun-lounger sets with 2m distances between them. We will have a system in place to ensure that all the tables and the sun-loungers are disinfected between uses of different guests.

Our reception is open from 8.00 am until 9.00 pm. One of us will be available for all your questions and wishes. We have taken the necessary measures, allowing you to keep distance from other guests and from our staff. We will ask all you to wear a face mask at check-in, check- out and whilst being inside our reception/bar. We will ask you to keep distance from each other and our staff.

Breakfast - Bar & Restaurant

Our way of serving breakfast fits the Clean and Safe Protocol. You chose what you want from our menu, we will take your order at the table and serve the dishes directly from our kitchen. By serving you our fresh breakfast à la carte, we avoid unnecessary handling of food and utensils by other clients or staff.   In the kitchen we have intensified all hygienic precautions to make sure to avoid contamination.

We recommend that you have your breakfast outside if possible.  We have made more tables available outside.

We have combined our reception and bar, you can order drinks and snacks from our menu until 8.00 pm. We will take your order at the bar and bring your drinks or food wherever you are: at your table on the terrace, at your private terrace or at the poolside.

Cleaning Services

Our housekeeping provides daily cleaning of your room, including disinfection of your door, handles and buttons. To avoid unnecessary contact between you and our staff, we will ask you use your ‘do not disturb sign’ whenever you are in your room. If you leave the room, please open the windows and turn off the airconditioning for the necessary ventilation of your room.

We will be providing disinfectant sprays in the rooms, so guests may disinfect surfaces themselves.

We provide clean towels on a daily bases, towels that we find on the bathroom floor will be replaced for clean ones. Our big grey beach towels can be exchanged for a clean one at the reception.

If you are staying longer than 3 nights, we will offer linen changes by appointment. We will discuss this when you check-in. For the safety of our staff, we will have to enter your room twice, with a pause of 30 minutes after we have taken away the used sheets.  We will ask you to make sure you will not be in your room at this time. After cleaning the room, we will leave the windows open for further ventilation.
